LinuxCon 2010 keynotes announced

The Linux Foundation has announced its keynote speakers and panels for this year's LinuxCon conference taking place from the 10th to the 12th of August, 2010 in Boston, Massachusetts. Jim Zemlin, executive director of The Linux Foundation said, “The LinuxCon keynotes and panels represent the Linux ecosystem and its major insiders – from the developer, business, operations and legal communities,” adding that, “LinuxCon covers all matters Linux and is a must-attend event for anyone in technology who is taking advantage of Linux – and that means everyone.”

Confirmed keynote speakers for the non-profit organisation's second annual conference include founding director of the Software Freedom Law Center (SFLC) Eben Moglen, Stormy Peters, executive director of the GNOME Foundation, and vice president and chief information officer at Virgin America, Ravi Simhambhatla. This year's mini-summits include a KVM Forum, a Linux Storage & File Systems Workshop and a Linux Security summit. Several top maintainers, including Novell engineer James Bottomley, Fedora maintainer Dave Jones, BTRFS file system creator Chris Mason and former Linux Foundation Chief Technology Officer and Google fellow Ted Ts'o, will also participate in a round table discussion on the Linux Kernel.

More details about LinuxCon 2010 can be found on the Linux Foundation's events web site. Those interested in attending the conference are asked to register as soon as possible. The early registration fee of $300 expires today and will increase to $400 starting on the 7th of May. Student registration with a valid student ID is $100. This year's event is being sponsored by HP, IBM, Intel and Novell.
