LinuxCon 2010: full schedule now announced

The full schedule for LinuxCon North America 2010 has now been announced. LinuxCon organised by the Linux Foundation will take place from the 10th to the 12th of August at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel.

One focus of the conference will be the issue of kernel development. Jerry Cooperstein will be presenting a two-part crash course in driver development and Chris Mason of Oracle will give a talk about the status and future of the Btrfs file system. The Linux kernel discussion panel will include the maintainer of the SCSI subsystem, James Bottomley, Fedora kernel maintainer Dave Jones, Ted Ts'o, kernel developer and the man behind the Linux Weekly News, Jon Corbet, and Chris Mason, Director of Linux Kernel Engineering at Oracle.

Other topics at the conference include virtualisation and Linux in embedded applications. In the embedded category, there will be two lectures on Intel and Nokia's mobile Linux Meego, developed under the umbrella of the Linux Foundation. Dawn Foster from Intel will give a status report on the current stage of development of Meego and Mark Skarpness, also from Intel, will talk about how the openness of Meego could affect the entire mobile industry.
