PlayStation 3 Sony is now completely clear of the class action suit brought against it in April 2010 in the wake of its decision to remove "Other OS" Linux support from the PlayStation 3. Sony had removed "Other OS" support from the PlayStation 3 in March 2010, after hackers had found ways to exploit parts of the "Other OS" hypervisor to gain further access to Sony's system.

The class action suit was broadly dismissed in February 2011 but there was a claim left standing in the case. The plaintiffs claimed they had a right to expect the Other OS feature beyond the warranty period and have continued access to the PlayStation Network (PSN). According to Courthouse News Service, US District Judge Richard Seeborg has now granted Sony's motion to dismiss the claim on the basis that the plaintiffs "have failed to allege facts or articulate a theory on which Sony may be held liable".
