Nearly three months after the release of Linux 2.6.3, Linus Torvalds has released Linux 2.6.34. It supports two new file systems and offers improved support of the power saving techniques available in modern hardware. Many new or extended drivers also improve the hardware support; 2.6.34 also has support for some Intel processors and chipsets which the Intel will be introducing early next year.

The Kernel Log on The H offers an overview of all of these innovations and looks at the forecast for the next Linux version, 2.6.35, expected in August; this completes The H's in-depth coverage of the development of 2.6.34.
