LinuxCon Brazil Logo The Linux Foundation has announced that its third regional LinuxCon conference will take place from the 31st of August to the 1st of September, 2010 at the Sheraton World Trade Center in São Paulo, Brazil. Jim Zemlin, executive director of The Linux Foundation said, “Brazil leads many other countries in its adoption of Linux and is a growing base of development. The time is right to take the industry’s premier Linux conference to Brazil,” adding that, “LinuxCon Brazil will provide a neutral forum in which key stakeholders from across the country can come together with the kernel community and global business communities to advance the platform.”

Confirmed speakers for the Brazilian event include Linux creator Linus Torvalds and lead Linux maintainer Andrew Morton, both of whom will deliver a keynote discussion about the future of Linux moderated by Zemlin. The event organisers are still seeking proposals from attendees for presentations in three different categories – developer, business and operations. Suggested topics include, for example, Linux on the desktop and embedded systems, Linux in mobile devices, Linux in the cloud and Linux appliances.

More information about LinuxCon Brazil 2010 can be found on the Linux Foundation's events web site. Those interested in attending the conference are asked to register as soon as possible. Early registration costs $150 and will increase to $200 after the 15th of June. The event is being sponsored by platinum sponsors globo.com and Intel, gold sponsors CAIXA and Locaweb and silver sponsors 4Linux and Cirtrix.

The non-profit organisations other regional LinuxCon events include LinuxCon Boston 2010 from the 10th to the 12th of August and LinuxCon Japan 2010 following LinuxCon Brazil 2010 from the 27th to the 29th of September, 2010.
