Linux 3.4 approaching with "calmed" RC7

Tux Linus Torvalds says "things have really calmed down" in the email that accompanies the release of the seventh release candidate (RC7) of Linux 3.4. He says he had considered making a release over the weekend "but felt that another week wouldn't hurt".

The changes in RC7 include reverting to generic i2c algorithms in the Nouveau driver; of the other small changes made, Torvalds says "No scary changes". He encourages developers to "go forth and test" the release candidate and that he is only accepting fixes for really nasty bugs. Unless there is a major problem in the next week, it is likely that Linux 3.4 will be released next weekend. In the interim, those interested in the changes being made can read The H's Kernel Log mini-series "Coming in 3.4" which examines the various subsystem developments in the upcoming release.
