LibreOffice logo The Document Foundation (TDF) has announced the release of the first maintenance update to the 3.5.x branch of its open source LibreOffice productivity suite. According to Italo Vignoli, a member of the TDF Board of Directors, the new version is targeted at individuals as well as enterprises, and addresses a "majority of the most-important bugs identified by users".

LibreOffice 3.5.1 adds no new features, instead it focuses on fixing issues found in the office suite's core, improving the program's overall stability. This include fixes for a number of crashing problems and RTF import and export issues. All users are advised to upgrade to the new stable release. However, the developers note that users running the second release candidate for 3.5.1 do not need to download and reinstall as the final version is "bit-for-bit identical".

A full list of changes and bug fixes can be found in the release notes, and in the change logs for the RC1 and RC2 releases. LibreOffice 3.5.1 is available to download for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Source code for LibreOffice is licensed under the LGPLv3.
