LibreOffice logo The Document Foundation has released version 3.4.6 of its open source LibreOffice productivity suite. The maintenance update addresses a "potential security problem" and includes fixes for a number of bugs, such as problems that could lead the application to crash. Details of what the security problem in question is were not given.

In a blog post, Italo Vignoli, a member of the TDF Board of Directors, says that the 3.4.6 release is the last planned update to the 3.4.x branch, noting that the LibreOffice development team has been focused on the 3.5 series since earlier this year – LibreOffice 3.5 was released in mid-February and updated to 3.5.1 last week. "LibreOffice 3.4.6 is released for the convenience of users, for them to plan a migration to the 3.5 series without being forced in time," added Vignoli.

Further details about the update, including a full list of changes and bug fixes, can be found in the release notes and on the change log. LibreOffice 3.4.6 is available to download for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux and is licensed under the LGPLv3.
