LibreOffice The Document Foundation has announced the arrival of a first release candidate (RC1) for version 3.3.2 of LibreOffice, the second in a series of bug fix releases to the free open source office suite. According to the developers, the 3.3.2 RC1 contains translation updates and fixes for a number of bugs found in the previous version.

Issues addressed by the update include incorrect cursor navigation bugs and problems importing macros, as well as the removal of Online Update and the Improvement program. An issue that caused Writer to lose information in tick boxes has also been corrected. A list of known issues for LibreOffice 3.3.2 RC1 is provided on the Document Foundation Wiki.

As with all development releases, use in production environments and on mission critical systems is not advised. Users testing the release are encouraged to provide feedback and report any bugs that they encounter.

Further details about the release can be found in a post on the Document Foundation Blog by Florian Effenberger, a member of the Foundation's Steering Committee, and in the change log. LibreOffice 3.3.2 RC1 is available to download for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux from the QA Builds web page.

LibreOffice forked from the OpenOffice.org office suite following Oracle's acquisition of Sun Microsystems, the original copyright holders of the name and main sponsors of the project. The latest stable release of LibreOffice is version 3.3.1, a maintenance update to LibreOffice 3.3. LibreOffice source code is licensed under the LGPL version 3.
