The Leeenux developers have announced the release of version 2.0 of their Linux distribution for netbooks. Leeenux is a modified version of Easy Peasy 1.5, which is in turn based on Ubuntu 9.04, that only requires 1.2 GB of disk space.

Even though it's aimed at ASUS Eee PC notebooks, specifically the 701 models with a 7 inch screen, the developers note that it should also work on a number of other systems. Leeenux 2.0 includes several default applications, such as Mozilla's Firefox web browser, the Thunderbird email client, the VLC media player, AbiWord, the Pidgin IM client and the Cheese webcam application.

Leeenux 2.0 is available to download as a 360 MB ISO image file and an installation guide is provided. Leeenux is released under version 3 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv3).
