Kickfire has secured Bruce Armstrong, a veteran in the database business, as its new CEO. Kickfire, who went public on their MySQL appliances at the MySQL conference in April, produce a MySQL based appliance which has at it's heart a stream processing SQL processor. This has gained attention for its benchmarks, which have it's specialised approach outperforming established vendors offerings. The SQL chip approach also allows Kickfire to deliver this performance in a low power, compact form factor.

Armstrong brings a wide range of experience in the database industry to the post of CEO at Kickfire. His 25 year career includes engagements with data warehouse specialist Teradata and database vendor Sybase.
