KDE launches fundraising campaign at LinuxTag

At the LinuxTag conference in Germany KDE e.V. has launched a new 'Join the Game' membership programme. For an annual fee of 100 euros, anyone can become a 'supporting member' of KDE e.V., the non-profit organisation that supports development of the KDE desktop. The money will be used to finance IT infrastructure, developer meetings, trade show presences and in asserting the organisation's legal interests.

KDE e.V. particularly wants to engage with new members from the wider community. New members will be sent a quarterly report on the activities of the organisation and are entitled to attend the AGM at KDE's Akademy conference. Voting rights however, remain reserved for ordinary members.

Anyone registering for membership at LinuxTag will be entered into a draw to win one of four spots at a dinner with KDE developers this Friday. Anyone who is not at LinuxTag, but is in Berlin and would like the chance to attend the dinner, can register at jointhegame.kde.org. The organisation has already welcomed two prominent supporting members – Free Software Foundation Europe founder Georg Greve and GNOME release manager Vincent Untz.
