KDE SC 4.5 release delayed
Originally scheduled to arrive yesterday (the 4th of August), the KDE Project release team have confirmed that version 4.5 of the KDE Software Compilation (KDE SC) is delayed by one week. According to the mailing list announcement, the release team say, after discussing the amount of changes that have gone into the 4.5 brach following the most recent release candidate, they have "decided to wait another couple of days for things to settle down".
The next major release of the popular Linux and Unix desktop manager is now scheduled to arrive on the 10th of August. The developers also note that, the schedule for the 4.5 series will be pushed 1 week. However, the current plans for 4.6.x will not be affected.
The latest development preview of KDE SC 4.5 is the third release candidate from the end of July, while the most recent stable release is KDE SC 4.4.5 from late June. KDE is licensed under a combination of the LGPLv2, BSD, MIT and X11 licences for core libraries and the GPLv2 or GPLv3 for applications.
