KDE Logo The KDE project developers have announced the release of KDE SC 4.3.5, the latest monthly bug fix release for the popular Linux desktop. In addition to a number of translation updates and stability improvements, this update for the 4.3 branch of the free open source K Desktop Environment (KDE) addresses a number of bugs in the KDE Input/Output (KIO) libraries, so that displayed directories updated correctly. According to the project schedules this should be the last update to 4.3 before KDE version 4.4 is released in February.

The maintenance release also features updates to Konqueror that correct rendering problems and fixes a crash when creating an avatar using the webcam in Kopete, KDE's instant messenger. The developers advise all users to update to the latest release.

More details about the release can be found in the release announcement, change log and on the KDE 4.3.5 Info Page. Source packages for self-compilation and binary packages for various Linux distributions are available to download from the project's website. KDE is licensed under a combination of the LGPLv2, BSD, MIT and X11 licenses for core libraries and the GPLv2 or GPLv3 for applications. KDE SC 4.4, the next major release of the K Desktop Environment, is scheduled for the 9th of February, 2010.
