The Jolicloud developers have confirmed that the upcoming major 1.0 release of their operating system will include support for some touchscreen displays out of the box. The developers say that Jolicloud 1.0 will also include a new HTML5 interface and launcher.

A list of supported touchscreen technologies is available in a post on the Jolicloud Blog. A short demo video of Jolicloud 1.0 with touch support is also provided.

Jolicloud is a free, Linux-based operating system aimed specifically at netbook computers that includes all of the necessary drivers for most netbooks. It features built-in social networking support, allowing users to collaborate and share with their friends, and gives users the option to back up their data to the cloud.

Jolicloud supports a wide variety of netbooks and, while a Pre-Final version of 1.0 is available to download from the project's web site, Jolicloud do not give a date for the release of the final version 1.0. Users can choose between installing Jolicloud via a standard ISO image or alongside Windows using Jolicloud Express and documentation is provided. Jolicloud is licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) and other open source licenses.
