Zoom The Jolicloud 1.0 launcher.
The Jolicloud developers have announced that version 1.0 of their operating system is now available as a general release for all users. Previously, version 1.0 of Jolicloud was only available to founding members that had been running Jolicloud since the first Alpha release.

Jolicloud is a free, Linux-based operating system aimed specifically at netbook computers that includes all of the necessary drivers for most netbooks. It supports a wide variety of systems and features built-in social networking support to allow users to collaborate and share with their friends, and gives users the option to back up their data to the cloud. Version 1.0 of Jolicloud includes a new interface with a customisable launcher built entirely in HTML5, and support for some touch screen displays.

More details about the release can be found in a post on the company blog by founder and CEO of Jolicloud Tariq Krim. Jolicloud 1.0 is available to download from the project's site and via BitTorrent. Users can choose between installing Jolicloud via a standard ISO image or alongside Windows using Jolicloud Express and documentation is provided. Jolicloud is licensed under the GNU General Public Licence (GPL) and other open source licences.
