Infobright has released the source code for its Data Warehouse under the GNU General Public License. The Infobright Community Edition (ICE) is available to download for free from the newly established Infobright.org portal. The new portal is intended to become a home for a lively development and partnership community. A commercially available Enterprise Version boasts extended functionality as well as various support options.

Infobright's DBMS is said to be capable of handling between 500 gigabytes and 30 terabytes of data. The analytical database engine makes a good combination with MySQL, but it also works well with a wide range of business intelligence products such as those by IBM – Cognos, SAP – Business Objects, SAS, and the JasperSoft and Pentaho open-source suites. Reports say that the Infobright Community Edition is being helped on its way with ten million dollars of risk capital provided among others by Sun, which owns MySQL.
