After nearly 14 months of development, the ImpressCMS project developers have announced the availability of version 1.2 of their open source content management system (CMS). In addition to a number of bug fixes and translation updates, the latest release of the community developed CMS includes several new features.

ImpressCMS 1.2 features a new image manager with online editing, a customisable profile module with social networking features, an updated content module and cron-like scheduling with autotasks. The release also supports AJAX Redirecting, removing a previous requirement for redirect page, and includes updates to HTMLPurifier and Captcha configuration.

Other changes include admin area themes, separate home pages for each group and updates to the textsanitizer plugins. The installer now features a new look that, using AJAX, allows users to install modules while installing their site. The developers also note that support for PHP 5.3 will be added in the next release.

More details about the release can be found in the change log and release notes. ImpressCMS 1.2 is available to download as a zip or tar.gz package. An upgrade and installation guide are also provided. ImpressCMS is released under version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2).
