Network management specialist Hyperic has released a new version of Hyperic HQ. Its most important new feature is the HQU plugin framework which allows administrators to automate individual tasks via scripts. Written in the Groovy scripting language it allows plugins to be integrated during operation, without having to restart the HQ server.

While most of the HQU plugins will be exclusively available on Hyperic's HyperFORGE community website, Hyperic ships some of them bundled with its network management software. The current release includes the plugins "HQ Health", which allow users to monitor HQ server performance in realtime, and "Nagios Integration", which integrates resources managed by Nagios into Hyperic HQ. Apart from the first plugins, HyperFORGE also offers the documentation for the HQU framework.
