The developers of the Java-based open source application and clustering framework Gyrex have announced the release of version 1.0 of the software. With this release, the project moves out of incubation status and becomes a full member project of the Eclipse Foundation.

New features in Gyrex 1.0 include updates to the included versions of ZooKeeper (now at version 3.4), Jetty (8.1) and improvements to the Equinox OSGi framework. Gyrex now also uses version 1.6.4 of SLF4J (Simple Logging Facade for Java) and Logback 1.0 for central event logging within the system. Additionally, the framework now also supports the SPDY protocol via the included Jetty version.

Gyrex is being developed mainly by the two German companies AGETO German language link and igniti German language link and provides cluster management, software provisioning and administration that is based on the Equinox OSGi framework. Gyrex 1.0 is licensed under the Eclipse Public Licence and can be downloaded from the Eclipse web site. More information on the new version can be found in the release review slides on the project's bug tracking system.
