Grml Logo The Grml.org developers have released version 2011.05 of their Debian-based LiveCD distribution. Grml is designed especially for system administrators and users of text tools such as awk, sed, grep, zsh, mutt[ng], slrn, and vim.

Grml 2011.05, code-named "Just Mari", is based on the 2.6.38.7 Linux kernel and features the return of the Ratpoison window manager "due to popular demand". The new "dns=" boot option allows users to specify static nameservers on startup. The "grml-feedback" commandline application lets users provide feedback to the Grml Team. Other changes include the addition of grml2iso to output small ISOs (approximately 20 MB in size) and gPXE being replaced by the iPXE network boot firmware.

Further details about the latest stable release can be found in the release notes. Small (110 MB), Medium (220 MB) and Large (700 MB) versions of Grml 2011.05 are available to download for 32- and 64-bit systems from the project's web site.
