Graphical tool makes compiling CyanogenMod easier

The recently released CyanogenMod Compiler (CMC) is a graphical tool that helps interested users compile the CyanogenMod source code from scratch. The tool automatically downloads the sources from GitHub, users then only have to select for which device and from what branch of the project they want to compile.

The software is currently at version 0.4 and still in early beta stage. It is missing some elementary functionality such as progress bars for downloads and compile processes. The program is also lacking documentation and an easy way for users to discover where to start using it. However, in testing at The H, the compiler has been shown capable of building a ROM image. Essentially, CMC is a graphical frontend to CyanogenMod's compile scripts which can also be started from the command line.

The tool is currently aimed at Ubuntu users and is tightly integrated into Unity, making use of Ubuntu's notification system and Unity launcher features. It can be downloaded as packages for 32- and 64-bit versions of Ubuntu 10.04 or higher, and the source code from GitHub under an unspecified open source licence.
