Google is in the process of updating the look of its browser offerings: Version 11.0.696.12 of its WebKit-based Chrome web browser, just released into the Chrome developer channel (a.k.a. the Dev channel), features the addition of a new logo that drops the previous 3D bubble look for a flatter and simpler look – click the image to the right to view a larger version of the latest Chrome logo. Aimed at developers and early adopters, version 11.0.696.12 of Chrome also corrects issues with the New York Times Chrome app, the status bar, tooltips and various other bugs that could cause the browser to crash.

Just over one week ago, Google also revamped the logo for its open source Chromium web browser upon which Chrome is based. Similar to Chrome, the Chromium logo saw the shades of blue based logo transform from a slightly three dimensional object into a sharper, more two dimensional look.
