Google's 5th Summer of Code wraps up
Google has officially wrapped up its fifth Google Summer of Code (GSoC). This year 1,000 students and just under 2,000 mentors from over 60 countries participated in Google's contest which offers university students stipends to write and develop code for various open source projects. According to Google, 85 per cent of the students working to improve the code bases of 150 projects passed their final evaluations, two per cent more than last year.
More details about this years Google Summer of Code can be found on its open source programs web page. Lists of student projects and organisations that were accepted to Google Summer of Code 2009 are also available. Google will publish more extensive program statistics and reports in the coming weeks to the Google Open Source Blog.
