Google Chrome.jpg Google has released Chrome 3.0.193.2 into its Beta channel, making it the first beta release of version 3 of the search engine giant's web browser based on Apple’s open source WebKit browser application framework. According to the release announcement, the Chrome 3 beta includes version 1.2.13.2 of the V8 JavaScript engine, improving its overall stability and performance. Support has been added for the video tag and the look and feel of the URL bar, also called the Omnibox, has been updated. The Developer Tools have been improved with the addition of a scripts and profiles tab and support for docking the inspector to the main window. As this is a beta release, use in production environments and on mission critical machines is not advised.

More details about the release can be found in the Beta Channel Update announcement blog post. Chrome 3.0.193.2 beta is available for download for Windows XP SP2+ and Windows Vista. As of the beginning of June, only a developer build of Chrome is available for users running Linux and Mac OS X.
