Google have released MacFUSE 2.0, a new version of the Filesystem in Userspace program for Mac OS X. FUSE allows users to "plug-in" file systems to their system and, as well as providing the ability to view classic on disk file systems such as Ext3 and NTFS, it allows developers to make other sources of data visible as a directory hierarchy. MacFUSE brought this capability to Mac OS X and allows for file systems such as SpotlightFS, which uses the Mac's Spotlight system, to create "true smart folders", for example iTunesFS, which shows the contents of iTunes and iPods as a filesystem.

MacFUSE 2.0 improves on the previous releases by adding a MacFUSE preference pane, 64-bit support and Snow Leopard support. A full list of enhancements it listed in the change log. MacFUSE is licensed under the New BSD Licence.
