Zoom Dart Synonym illustrates how JavaScript features can be implemented in Dart
In an attempt to attract support for its Dart programming language, which aims to offer an alternative to JavaScript, Google has posted a comparison illustrating the differences between the two languages on a web page entitled "Dart Synonym". Interested developers can see basic JavaScript properties and features translated into Dart code. It is not yet possible to convert JavaScript into Dart automatically, but the presentation of the comparison as an app could be an indication that Google is planning to release a translator capable of doing so at some point in the future.

Google unveiled Dart at the GOTO conference in early October, positioning the language on an equal footing with JavaScript. Its benefits include a new typing system which combines the advantages of static and dynamic typing. In the opinion of many experts, however, Dart does not represent a direct substitute for JavaScript, and is instead likely to be principally used in the area of mobile development. Dart currently has the status of a technology preview.
