Gnuplot 4.6 arrives with code block support
The gnuplot developers have announced the first major release of gnuplot in two years. Version 4.6 of the command-line driven graphing utility adds new terminal drivers, support for code blocks, and many improvements to the Windows version of the program.
Gnuplot can now accept commands in multi-line code blocks delimited by curly brackets and includes a new stats command that prints out a statistical summary of data in the graph being plotted. It also adds user-definable line types, new terminal drivers for Qt and other frontends, as well as improved support for UTF-8. The Windows version of gnuplot now includes a GUI and an installer, along with a help command.
Demonstration scripts for the new features in the release can be found on a dedicated page on the gnuplot site. The software can be downloaded for Windows, Linux and OS/2 from SourceForge and is distributed under its own unique licence which only allows changes to be distributed as patches to the original source code.
