Gnumeric 1.10 released

Gnumeric on Linux. Following nearly two years of development, the Gnumeric developers have announced the release of version 1.10.0 of their GNOME Office spreadsheet application. The first stable release in the 1.10.x series includes several changes, updates and improvements.

Gnumeric 1.10 removes the 256 columns by 65,536 rows restriction on spreadsheets and features a number of new functions. The new ssgrep utility allows users to better search collections of spreadsheet files, the statistical analysis tools have been improved and new tools have been added, including Sign Tests, Normality Tests, Principal Component Analysis and Kaplan-Meier Estimates. Support for the OpenDocument Format (ODF) has been improved.

Other notable changes include Excel and OpenFormula function compatibility updates, faster spreadsheet evaluation, lower memory usage when using a large number of calls, and Graph improvements, such as new plot types, and cubic splines interpolation. The developers advise all users to upgrade to the latest release.

Gnumeric 1.10 is available to download from the project's FTP server and requires the new Goffice 0.8.x library series and a GTK+ stack. Gnumeric is released under version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2).
