Version 0.8.10 of Gnash, an open source Flash player, has been released. According to developer Rob Savoye, the update allows users to set script limits to adjust the time before the abort popup appears for slow scripts, and includes Qt4 GUI support for the clipboard, screen resolution, and scroll wheels on mice.

A renderer for OpenVG, an API for hardware-accelerated 2D vector and raster graphics, has been added, and the framebuffer now supports using multiple renderers. Other changes include better framebuffer GUI and touchscreen support, and fixes for several bugs found in the previous 0.8.9 release from March 2011.

Gnash is based on GameSWF, and can run as a standalone player or as a plugin. Supported browsers include Chromium, Konqueror and Firefox; other Gecko-based browsers like SeaMonkey are also supported. While it supports a majority of SWF v7 (version 7) features and some of those found in v8 and v9, SWF v10 is not currently supported. The developers note that, while Gnash is being actively developed, it is still considered to be in "beta".

More details about the update, including a full list of fixes, can be found in the change log; at the time of writing, the Gnash Dev and Get Gnash sites have yet to be updated to reflect the new release. Gnash 0.8.10 is available to download as GPLv3-licensed source from gnu.org and documentation is provided.
