GlassFish ESB 2.2 released
Sun Microsystems has released version 2.2 of its GlassFish ESB, an open source distribution of the OpenESB project containing the project's most important run-time and other components. ESB allows platforms for Business Integration (BI), Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) to be created. OpenESB implements such standards as Java Business Integration (JBI) and Java EE (Java Enterprise Edition) and supports a lot of interoperability functions with other systems.
The innovations include email binding, REST binding components and the POJO service engine, which allows business logic to be specified in Java (as Plain Old Java Objects) before the business objects are run in a JBI component. ESB can be downloaded for free under the Common Development and Distribution License (CDDL); Sun offers commercial support for the distribution, which also contains the latest version of Sun's open development environment NetBeans (6.7.1) and the GlassFish application server (2.1.1) .
