Janky logo The developers at GitHub have announced the release of Janky, their continuous integration (CI) server, as open source. Designed to work with projects hosted on GitHub, Janky is built on top of the Jenkins CI server and is controlled by the recently open sourced chat room robot Hubot.

Janky allows users of the CI system to converse, and be notified of issues, through the use of basic commands in a chat room. Janky also adds the appropriate web-hooks to a github project to ensure that the Jenkins CI server is notified of changes to the source code. The current version of Janky is intended to be deployed to the Heroku cloud application platform, although as its source is now available, support for other platforms could be added in future.

Further details about Janky, including download links and installation instructions, can be found on its project page on GitHub. Janky source code is made available under an MIT licence.
