GWT 1.7 supports new browsers

Google has released version 1.7 of its Google Web Toolkit (GWT), adding better support for the latest web browsers. According to a post by GWT Team member Bruce Johnson, version 1.7 of the web framework is a "minor update" that adds support for Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 3.5 and Safari 4, bug fixes and a new "ie8" value in the "user.agent" deferred binding property. Johnson says that the release could have been named 1.6.5, but the team went with 1.7 to indicate that developers need to pay attention to the change. All developers are advised to update to GWT 1.7 and recompile their existing applications "to ensure that they work with the latest versions of browsers".

The Google Web Toolkit is released under the version 2.0 of the Apache License and includes some other libraries that are licensed under the Mozilla Public License, Eclipse Public License and LGPL.
