GParted update improves volume labelling

GParted logo The GParted developers have announced the release of version 0.11.0 of their open source partition editor application. The update adds support for labelling Btrfs filesystems and enables XFS copying to new smaller partitions.

The ext2/3/4, NTFS and Btrfs unicode volume labels are now displayed properly and several translations have been updated. A number of other bugs found in the previous release have also been fixed.

Short for Gnome PARTition EDitor, GParted can be used to create, organise and delete disk partitions via a graphical user interface (GUI). Supported file systems include Btrfs, ext2, ext3, ext4, FAT16 and FAT32, HFS and HFS+, NTFS and others.

More details about the update, including a full list of bug fixes, can be found in the release notes. GParted 0.11.0 is available to download for Linux from SourceForge and is licensed under the GPLv2.

The application can be used on computers running Windows, Mac OS X and Linux via GParted Live, the project's small bootable Linux distribution that contains the GParted utility. GParted Live is traditionally updated to include the new version of the tool a few days after a new release of GParted.
