GNOME and KDE developer conference begins on Gran Canaria
The Gran Canaria Desktop Summit 2009 (GCDS'09) starts this evening in the Canary Islands, Spain. The event is the first time that the KDE and GNOME communities have colocated their annual GUADEC and Akademy conferences. By doing so, the communities will share several activities and collaborative sessions, while still holding their own unique and independent events.
According to the conference schedule, Saturday will begin with the opening talk, followed by several keynote speeches and the Cross-Desktop Track in the mid-afternoon. The event will take place over the next seven days and will feature lectures, porgramming information and work shops, including several local tracks in Spanish.
