FreeNAS logo The FreeNAS development team has released version 8.0.2 of its open source NAS (network-attached storage) operating system. This is a maintenance update that addresses several problems found in the recent 8.0.1 release.

According to the developers, the update fixes a major bug in the email subsystem that prevented it from working correctly, resulting in not being able to send mail. Other issues, including ones related to iSCSI targets and recursive access control lists (ACLs), have also been fixed.

Further information can be found in the official mailing list announcement. FreeNAS 8.0.2 is available to download as an ISO image file for 32- or 64-bit systems. Hosted on SourceForge, FreeNAS source code is released under the BSD license.
