FosWiki logo The Foswiki developers, who quit the Twiki project just under a year ago to create a more open source based branch of the Twiki code with the working name of "NextWiki", have released version 1.0.7 of the Foswiki software. The latest release builds on the bug fixing efforts of the developers over the past year; since version 1.0.0 was released in January, over 190 bugs have been fixed in the GPLv2 licensed fork. The Foswiki application is available to download for Linux, Windows or Mac.

Foswiki 1.0.7 sees the Wyswig editor upgraded to TinyMCE 3.2.2 and improved sorting for tables. The editor update was scheduled for version 1.1.0, but schedule slip on that new version gave the developers an opportunity to upgrade the editor in the 1.0.7 release. Enhancements were also made to the Cross-Site Request Forgery prevention feature, implemented in 1.0.6 which implemented the "double submit" algorithm as recommended by the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP). In 1.0.7, added functionality protects the wiki system against unwanted attachments.

Recently, the Foswiki project formalised itself as the Foswiki Association, an official entity which the developers plan to use to guarantee an "independent, strong and transparent community leadership".
