Foresight Linux 2.5 released
After more than 10 months of development, version 2.5 of Foresight Linux has been released. Foresight Linux is an rPath-based, rolling-release distribution that includes a choice of three desktop environments.
According to the developers, version 2.5 is aimed at "new users as well as for returning users and early adopters"; existing users running 2.1.1 "will be able to update their systems in the following 2 weeks". Based on the "long term support" 2.6.35.11 Linux kernel, Foresight Linux 2.5 will have a 2.6.38 kernel available soon as a drop-in replacement. Foresight Linux 2.5 features the latest released desktop environments; GNOME 2.32.1, KDE 4.6.1 and Xfce 4.8. The Conary package manager, developed by rPath and only used by Foresight Linux and rPath, has been updated to the latest version. Other changes include various bug fixes, as well as several new and updated packages, such as Chromium, Firefox, Banshee, F-Spot, OpenShot, Pidgin and GIMP.
Further details about the latest release can be found in the official release announcement. Foresight Linux 2.5 is available to download as DVD ISO image files for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems from the project's site and documentation is provided.
