Developer Meinrad Recheis has announced the availability of the first public release of GitSharp, Git# 0.1.3. GitSharp is a C# (CSharp) implementation of the open source Git version control system (VCS) for the .NET framework and Mono.

The project is based on a port of the Java Git (JGit) Eclipse plug-in to C#. Recheis notes that although GitSharp is currently considered to be at an alpha stage of development, the "library GitSharp.Core is already quite usable". Several code samples demonstrating the API and a demo are provided.

More details about the release can be found in the change log and on the project's homepage. GitSharp 0.1.3 is available to download (direct download) and is released under a BSD License.
