The Mozilla developers have confirmed that they are working on a version of Firefox for Android tablets. The tablet browser is described as an "evolution" of the phone version of Firefox, which does already function on tablets.

The differences between the Android phone and tablet versions are found in the user interface. For example, the "Awesomebar" URL entry field and display has been rearranged with its tabs on the left rather than the top, and a "Back" (and "Forward") button has been reinstated before the text field. Browser-wide tabs have been reworked so they can be left on display in landscape mode or selectable from a menu item in portrait mode, rather than remaining off-screen all the time until the user swipes them into view.

Finally, the tablet version will bring themes to the smaller-touchier screen with, for example, a HoneyComb theme to fit in better with the surrounding environment. There was no news on when the tablet version will appear for general use or testing.
