The Mageia Council and the distribution's packagers team have decided to add a third beta of Mageia 2 to the release schedule. The developers feel that there are still a few important bugs to fix before the distribution can be released to the public.

The delay is mostly caused by bugs that effect systemd and dracut but the developers point out that this delay will also give the artwork, documentation and translation teams more time to polish the final release. The revised schedule now includes a beta 3 release of Mageia 2 on 14 April, with a release candidate expected on 2 May. The final release for Mageia 2 is now planned for 15 May.

Meanwhile, the project has announced that Anne Nicolas has been re-elected as Chairman of the Mageia.Org Board of Directors after serving in this position for the first year of the organisation's existence. The board consists of six to twelve members of which a third must be re-elected each year.

Michael Scherer, who served as Secretary, and Wolfgang Bornath resigned their board positions and were replaced by Oliver Burger and Nicolas Vigier respectively. Treasurer Damien Lallement was replaced by Romain d’Alverny. The elections were secret as per Mageia.Org statutes. Besides the upcoming releases, the board said it will be concentrating on promoting Mageia better in the coming year.
