The Fedora community has chosen "Lovelock" as the Fedora 15 release name. This follows the release of Fedora 14 on Tuesday, November 2nd. Fedora 15 should see a final release in approximately six months time.

According to the naming convention for Fedora releases, each successive name must have a link to the preceding name, but the link must be a different type of link to the link between the previous two names. Fedora 14 Laughlin was named after physicist Robert B. Laughlin which linked to the previous Goddard as both are the names of physicists. Apparently the link between Lovelock and Laughlin is that both are the names of cities in Nevada.

The vote was fairly evenly divided between the top five choices of Lovelock, Asturias, Blarney, Sturgis and Pushcart, with Lovelock beating Asturias with 729 votes compared to 701. The total number of valid ballots cast was 296 and the vote use the range method, so the maximum possible vote was 1,480 (296 x 5). A history of Fedora release names is available on the project's wiki.
