"We'll release it when it's ready" seems to be a theme for the Fedora Project, as the Fedora 11 release has been delayed until the 9th of June. This is the second time that the release date for the popular Linux distribution has been postponed by a week. Its release was originally scheduled for the 26th of May, but one and a half weeks ago it was pushed back to the 2nd of June because it contained several errors. As shown in the release schedule in the Project Wiki, the alpha, beta and final releases missed the original planned release dates – only the preview release came out on time.

The reason for the latest delay is an error in the partitioning code in the Anaconda installation program, code that had been largely rewritten for Fedora 11.

Since the release of the Fedora 11 preview, only changes to eliminate critical errors have been made in the Rawhide main development branch, the basis of all other versions. Other innovations are going into the repositories that Fedora 11 will later use to update the system. Currently, there are already 1,464 RPMs in the regular update repository for x86_64 systems, and an additional 679 – including KDE 4.2.3 and Xfce 4.6.1 – in the updates testing repository.
