Document Freedom Day is approaching and the Free Software Foundation Europe and the DFD team have announced that in the days following it, they will be sending a pair of handcuffs – to symbolise proprietary standards – to nominated persons. The group has 100 packages of handcuffs and a short educational letter to send out and is looking for nominations to receive this "free, remarkable gift" on their web page.

The DFD web page also allows people to donate – with donations over 10 euros gaining the right to nominate an additional person – and has a map on which the movement of the handcuff packages will be tracked. Nominations must be received by 30 March and the packages will be sent on 4 April.
