The Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) is asking users of Free Software to show their appreciation of the community that creates it by saying "thank you" on Valentine's Day, 14 February. The #ilovefs campaign wants people to send free software supporters a thank you message, blog or microblog expressing, "how you love Free Software", or attach a banner to their web site.

The campaign also suggests that users could, individually, hug a developer or buy them a drink, tell people at lunch about Free Software or donate to the FSFE or other Free Software projects. However, the foundation does suggest asking people for permission before hugging them. "We want you to help us, to make this day the day where everybody says 'thank you' to the people behind Free Software", said Matthias Kirschner, the initiator of the #iliovefs campaign.
