The Mayflower supported phpMyFAQ project has announced the release of version 2.5 of the Frequently Asked Questions manager. During the two years of development, the new version has been ported to PHP 5 and now uses jQuery rather than Prototype/Scriptaculous. This has enabled easier and faster development, with a new AJAX enhanced front end for comment and record administration.

Other features of the new release, dubbed the "Apollo 11" release, include an improved image manager, category based RSS feeds, easier FAQ duplication, a popular searches list and LDAP and HTTP authentication. A new mail subsystem, updated and toggle-able WYSYWIG editor, a translation front end and the ability to have approval on FAQs round out the new release.

phpMyFAQ is available under the Mozilla Public Licence and is available to download and requires PHP 5.2 or 5.3 and an SQL database, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Sybase, Derby, SQLite or Firebird. Proprietary databases are also supported.
