The European Commission is contacting users of MySQL in the run up to the antitrust review of the Sun/Oracle deal. According to the Wall Street Journal The antitrust review is set to report on September 3rd, .

Details of the commission's enquiries were disclosed in a blog posting on the Mayflower/ThinkPHP blog, detailing how an extensive questionnaire was received by the company. The questionnaire asks questions such as; how has the quality of InnoDB changed since it and it's makers, Innobase Oy, were acquired by Oracle four years ago.

Mayflower enquired if they could distribute the questionnaire to other MySQL users, but permission to do so was refused. Vera Pozzato of the Directorate General for Competition said this was because the commission preferred to make the initial contact themselves so they can manage tracking the responses. The blog author encourages companies who work with MySQL and Open Source products, to contact the Commission by writing to Ms. Pozzato to request a copy of the questionnaire, which has to be returned by August the 13th.
