Sun Microsystems has published version 2.1 of the open source Enterprise Java Server application GlassFish. Apart from numerous bug fixes, the Java Enterprise Edition 5 Server's Project GlassFish also has some new features.

Version 2.1 of GlassFish includes SIP servlet support, Voice over IP (VOIP), through the integration of the SailFin project. The Java Messaging Service (JMS) provider OpenMQ is now integrated into GlassFish using version 4.3. There are also several performance improvements and support for WildCard Topics, MySQL and Universal Message Support (UMS). Revisions were made to the clustering with Shoal and in the modules Metro (Web Services stack), TopLink Essentials (JPA implementation) and the Grizzly (HTTP Engine).

GlassFish is dual-licensed under the CDDL and GPLv2 with the ClassPath Exception. Builds of GlassFish are currently available for Mac OS X, Linux, SunOS, SunOS_X86 and Windows.
