EclipseSource: An Engagement of Eclipse experts

German company Innoopract and Canadian company Code 9, which was founded in March, have created a joint venture called EclipseSource. The joint venture is initially planned to be a collaboration of recognised experts for various Eclipse projects like RCP, Equinox and RAP. This collaboration's expertise is illustrated by EclipseSource reportedly holding leadership roles in more than ten major Eclipse projects.

EclipseSource is also intended to offer development, support, and training services, as well as commercial solutions for managing and distributing Eclipse-based systems. EclipseSource has not been created as an independent company, but in an interview with heise, Innoopract's CEO Jochen Krause said this is planned for the near future.

Jeff McAffer of Code 9 sees EclipseSource as "a real win-win situation for all involved". He has been an instrumental member of various of the Eclipse Foundation's Project Management Committees (PMCs). McAffer will provide technical leadership to EclipseSource while Jochen Krause will combine technical and business skills to lead the combined effort.
