Smaller companies will find it easier to join the Eclipse Foundation thanks to a new membership option. Previously, it would have cost a company at least $5,000 to join the Foundation, but now a new membership option is available for companies with a revenue of less than one million dollars and less than ten employees or contractors. The Solutions Member status is aimed at the smaller organisations who consider Eclipse an important part of their strategy and offer products based on Eclipse.

This new option costs $1,500 and has been specifically aimed at allowing smaller organisations and start-ups to participate. Don Smith, Director of Ecosystem Development at the Eclipse Foundation, announced the new option on the Eclipse Ecosystem blog, saying the Foundation will be promoting the new entry level membership later this month.
